Bio
Fiona Chandler completed a Bachelor of Arts (Visual Arts) from The University of Newcastle and a Masters in Design from the University of Technology Sydney in Australia.
In 2014, Fiona was awarded an Artist in Residence at Warringah Creative Space in Sydney. She went on to initiate Harbord Public School’s first Artist in Residence program also located in Sydney. In the same year, Fiona established Creatives in Conversation series with the Creative Women’s Circle. This popular series continues to be held regularly at Manly Art Gallery and Museum (MAG&M) in Sydney. Fiona has been a finalist in various art prizes and awards including Little Things at Saint Cloche, Sydney; Lethbridge Gallery’s Art Awards 10000 in Brisbane; and more recently the 2019 Mosman Art Prize at Mosman Art Gallery.
Fiona has exhibited in solo and group shows in Australia. Two of her solo shows Oil and Water Don’t Mix (2018) and Girt by Sea (2020) were sold out on opening night at Sydney Road Gallery. In 2020, Fiona was invited to be an Artist in Residence by the MAG&M in partnership with Q Station (formerly North Head Quarantine Station) both located in Sydney. She was one of three artists invited to exhibit at MAG&M in late 2020 / early 2021 as a result of a cross media project “ … to create an immersive exhibition experience in response to issues around migration, quarantine and place …”
